Erudicine released!

It's finally finished!

Erudicine has changed a lot from when I initially started working on it. Originally I planned for a little town on a strip of highway in a mountainous woodland. The Leclairs, the town of Emerald Lee, Brok'lu's crash site, and the Engima Pharmaceuticals lab were all major elements. I have a whole town map I planned out... but I decided that this was going to be huge and inflexible.

I wasn't trying to make a big module like A Pound of Flesh---which has a megadungeon of sorts and a massive station culture to explore. I realized that Nancy and Hugo would be more useful as roleplaying tools if they were mobile, and wardens were free to choose where to insert them into their game world.

So I made this. All the NPCs, the Drug, and the science vessel Divinorum can potentially be used independently with just a few modifications. I feel like this is better design because it matches Mothership's culture of flexible tool-box modules.

Hopefully the community will agree!

All my modules are made in Affinity Publisher. You can tell my mastery of the application is growing when you compare Erudicine to Arcology Alpha. The cover in particular is light-years ahead of all my previous work. It actually looks pretty good!

Going forward I'm not sure what I'm going to work on next. Possibly a corporate dossier for Enigma Pharmaceuticals. I'm also interested in doing something bigger and looking at print options for future projects.

I hope Erudicine adds some worthy content to your game. If you play it, please leave a comment.

Those combat stats look insane, are those 0e stats? 5d10 pulse rifle damage will very likely 1 shot any player. And 50 health per wound?

(1 edit)

Yes these are 0E stats. 5D10 damage is RAW for the pulse rifle in the PSG.

Hugo is a full body cyborg, and meant to be extremely dangerous in combat. However, his stats are run of the mill for 0e; almost identical to those of Cutter from APOF in fact.

It's his abilities which make him insane. Taking an extra action and having friendlies on his side act first (a result of his Erudicine boosted intellect, see the tactics/command skill in the PSG for context) that make him an enemy your crew absolutely should not try to fight without great planning.

That said, he can still be ambushed and with enough flame throwers/combat shotguns/smart rifles he can be taken down quickly.

I've been running a campaign with characters who are about level 7. They've beaten some pretty beefy bosses including The Avatar of Caliban, and Jealousy of Caliban (APOF) which are absolutely horrific.

That said, once I get my hands on a copy of the 1E rules I'll be updating all my work. A new version will release to match the new combat rules and scale Hugo for that game.

Don't expect Hugo to get any easier though.

EDIT: It's worth pointing out that Hugo's biggest vulnerability is Erudicine itself. He has a physical dependance on it and if your players ham string his access he'll break down pretty quickly.

Got it. My only experience is the 1e WIP ruleset, and damage and health are drastically reduced. I didn't think anyone was still actively making 0e Mothership content.

Well 1E hasn't actually been released. 0E is still what's available in stores. Did you get an advance copy of the rules or something?

The WIP ruleset is freely available from the devs. You can get it from the Mothership discord server.

Thanks!
